Transcend the “lower” Attain the “higher” Go deeply into the “lower” and find the “Higher” hiding there.
Move Energy from lower to higher Energy is free energy to go either up or down
Follow system, authority, Guru, “Sacred” scripture, Tradition, lineage. What guru’s or texts are saying, are just hypothesis's that must be tested. Like all sciences Yoga evolves. The  contemporary people need contemporary methods. Apta Yoga utilizes relevant contribution from Tao, Tantra, Zen, and Western sources.
Yoga is Indian, and the knowledge of Vedanta religion religion is important for true understanding. It is true that Yoga came from India just like Geometry came Greece. Understanding Hinduism has same limited utility to yoga as study of Greek mythology has to Geometry.
Belief in God is necessary for yoga. There is no place for beliefs in science. " "Ishwara" that is often translated as "God", refers to "the individual unit of the universal consciousness".
