Kabir:

Kabir 1398-1518:

I said to my longing heart:
What is this river you want to cross?
There are no travelers before you, there is no road.
Do you see anyone moving or resting on that bank?

There is no river at all, and no boat, and no boatman.
There is not even a rope to tow the boat, and no one to pull it.
There is no earth, no sky, no time, no thing, no shore, no ford!

And there is neither body, nor mind!
Will that place make the soul less thirsty?
In that great absence you will find nothing.

Be strong then, and enter into your own body;
For there your foothold is firm.
Think about it carefully oh my heart!
Don't go elsewhere!

Kabir says:
Throw away all thoughts of imaginary things,
And stand firm in that which you are.
